Engine Yard Cloud Out Loud S01E13: Rubinius

Photo Courtesy of Flickr user veganstraightedge We interviewed Evan Phoenix and Brian Ford of the Rubinius team. Rubinius is designed to provide performance and improved productivity. If you want to learn more about how you can benefit from Rubinius, you should check out Brian's Why Use Rubinius post on the Rubinius blog.

When we spoke to Evan and Brian the few weeks ago, they'd just released Rubinius 1.2.0; since then 1.2.2 has been released which includes a handful of bug fixes. This podcast Evan and Brian tell us about the origins of Rubinius and what they see in its future. We also learn about how some of the cool features in Rubinius were born out of a dare.

One of the great things about Rubinius that Evan and Brian mention, is that the source code is easy to read and acts as an excellent source of documentation. So, if you're looking for a cool new project to hack on, go fork the Rubinius project on Github and start contributing some code.

Brian wanted the intro music for the podcast to be M.I.A. Paper Planes. We had a little discussion about fair use, but I still wasn't sure if we were allowed to use it. So, as a compromise I figured I'd embed the music video into the blog post.
